Weston County Health Services is seeking an FT Infection Prevention & Employee Health Nurse to join our team. This position is responsible for coordinating the activities of the WCHS Infection Prevention Program by assuming direct responsibility for infection surveillance, infection reporting, and provision of infection prevention and control technical support and education for WCHS staff.  This position is responsible for screening, tracking, follow-up and recordkeeping of relevant health, safety and exposure data for all staff in compliance with all employment and regulatory standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitates the management, education and evaluation of the Infection Control program:
  • Responsible for oversight of UIHS’ Infection Control Program.
  • Serves as the Infection Control Committee Chairperson.
  • Serves as a member on the QI committee and the Safety committee as appropriate.
  • Coordinates facility-wide surveillance programs and activities in infection control for the purpose of detecting and preventing possible sources of infection and infectious outbreak.
  • Assists with establishing the standard of care in infection prevention practices to protect clients and staff.
  • Serves as the WCHS Infection Control Program spokesperson for State, Federal and Accreditation agencies.
  • Undertakes continuing education courses in infectious disease and epidemiology or attend conferences to keep knowledge base and skills updated in Infection Control.
  • Participates in review and analyses of quality indicator reports to verify accuracy of infection control data.
  • Assists in the review, monitoring and updating of all Infection Control policies.
  • Ensures WCHS is accreditation-ready (at all times) regarding Infection Control policies and procedures.
  • Implements and maintains an employee health program which meets the compliance standards of all applicable regulatory agencies and the needs of the staff.
  • Provides oversite for Health screening and immunization programs for all staff. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid Wyoming Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
  • Has the ability to develop and enforce policies and procedures.
  • Has current Infection Prevention Certifications.
  • Has and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Has the ability to teach, train, and coach.
